Mrs. Sheila Teadwell – Southwest Oklahoma Finalist

Mrs. Sheila Treadwell, one of the current Pre-K teachers for the Snyder Public Schools, is one of the finalists for 2021 Teacher of the Year for the State of Oklahoma. She is among 12 finalists, all from different parts of the state. This year, Mrs. Treadwell is the only teacher representing the Southwest Oklahoma region in the competition.

Oklahoma’s Top 12 Finalists

This year’s Teacher of the Year competition has 12 finalists, including the following:

  • Tina Dewey, Special Education Teacher L.W. Westfall Elementary School (Choctaw/Nicoma Park Public Schools)
  • Emily Freise, Speech Language Pathologist Greenwood Elementary School (Tahlequah Public Schools)
  • Kerry Ingersoll, Kindergarten Teacher Bethel Lower Elementary School (Bethel Public Schools)
  • Cindy Johnson, 10th-12th Grade Mathematics Teacher Collinsville High School (Collinsville Public Schools)
  • Rebecka Peterson, 10th-12th Grade Mathematics Teacher Union High School (Union Public Schools)
  • Juan Renteria, Jr., Fifth Grade Teacher Truman Elementary School (Norman Public Schools)
  • Donna Ross, Fourth Grade Teacher McKinley Elementary School (Tulsa Public Schools)
  • Shelley Self, Ninth-12th Grade Art Teacher Coweta High School (Coweta Public Schools)
  • Kortni Torralba, Therapeutic Educator Moore Alternative School and Treatment (Moore Public Schools)
  • Sheila Treadwell, Pre-Kindergarten Teacher John D. Moeller Primary School (Snyder Public Schools)
  • Lauren Vandever, Seventh Grade Reading Teacher Bristow Middle School (Bristow Public Schools)       

Oklahoma’s State Teacher of the Year will be announced in March 2022. In July 2022, the new Teacher of the Year will take on their duties, which includes speaking across the state and country. They are considered an ambassador for all teachers in Oklahoma for the year until a new Teacher of the Year is announced.
