Eisenhower High School graduates at the Great Plains Coliseum in Lawton, OK

Making Memories

Graduation season is thriving in Oklahoma and graduates are busy making memories on their big day. Students for certain schools are able to decorate their caps for their walk across the stage. Others are able to enjoy some special recognition leading up to their big day thanks to friends and family. Our feature specifically covered Eisenhower High School’s graduating class of 2021, but our message extends to everyone graduating across Oklahoma.

Future Plans for Graduates

Along with their big day, seniors have been planning their future passed High School all year long. Some have agreed to take a year off, others are jumping in to college head-first, like senior Sage Schmidt. One option for students that has gained more attraction over the years is trade-school rather than college. Either way, each and every student is on their way to becoming a working member of society.

Fears and Gratitude of 2021 Graduation

“At the beginning of the year, we weren’t sure we were even going to have one,” senior Sage Schmidt told us about his graduation. Last year, during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, schools all across the entire nation shut down. The once-in-a-lifetime chance to walk the stage in person was stolen from the graduating classes of 2020; however, faculty and staff were determined not to let it happen again. Of course, there were certain restrictions and previsions in place to keep everyone safe, but the show went on. The glimpse of normality came back with all of the students smiling as they received their diplomas.
