Lawton Fort Sill’s Armed Forces Parade
1st Parade of the Year
Lawton Fort Sill is hosting their Armed Forces Parade on June 12, 2021, beginning at 10 a.m. The parade is in celebration of the Armed Forces in the Lawton Community, which coincides with military base Fort Sill. The Lawton Community is ready to come out and celebrate after a year of events and celebrations were canceled thanks to COVID-19.
The Day of the Parade
On the day of the parade, drivers in Lawton can expect road closures along the route of the parade. The parade begins at 6th and C Avenue and travels west on C Avenue. They continue west until they reach 11th Street, where they will turn north and continue until they reach the intersection of Fort Sill Boulevard and Ferris Avenue. After the parade reaches Ferris Avenue, they will head back east and wrap everything up at Elmer Thomas Park. Event officials say that the parade will start at 10 a.m. and may last up to 2 hours.
Parade Participants
During the parade, everyone will likely see highly involved organizations in the Lawton Fort Sill community. Groups such as the Buffalo Soldiers of Lawton, the Poor Boys Antique Tractor Club, the Lawton Rough Riders are only a few. Not only will organizations will be involved in the parade, but so will different local businesses, such as CSL Plasma of Lawton or the Oklahoma Blood Institute (Lawton branch). The Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce is still, as of today, taking in participants who would like to be involved in the parade.
