Pettijohn’s Off-Road Park in Sterling, OK
A Piece of Perfection in Southwest Oklahoma
Pettijohn’s Off-Road Park, Just outside of Sterling, OK dedicates 160 acres of land to the fast and winding trails for motocross and dirt bike racers from all over the United States to come and train on.
Billy Pettijohn now owns one of the top 3 most efficient race tracks for racers to come and learn, or improve on their skills. Passed down from his father, Jackie, Billy and his family continue to provide a safe facility for riders all over the country. Riders of any skill level are welcome and are most often fond of the trails at Pettijohn’s (after our visit to the park, we definitely understand why).
Recently, Billy added a mini-track for younger riders not yet ready for the bigger and more difficult lanes; although, it was endearing to see the faster and older riders were not only aware of the younger ones, but were considerate and supportive of each other. It isn’t uncommon to see parents, friends, and family there watching, and sometimes riding with, riders to improve on their performance.
Riders not necessarily interested in competing can enjoy the beautiful scenic trails that stretch past the motocross track. The trails come up and out of banks, around trees, and pass by some of the cattle that also enjoy the land.
Pettijohn’s Off-Road Park is one of the only businesses open every day of the year from day until nighttime – rain, snow or shine. They even had riders brave the recent winter weather in Oklahoma because their track is worth the ride.
