The 77th Army Band and Pat Reynolds

Mr. Pat Reynolds, the backstage technician for Journey Productions, has worked with the 77th Army Band on several occasions in the past. Mr. Reynolds has been an engineer for an even longer amount of time, tearing down and setting up his equipment with ease and confidence over the years.

The Incident

After a session of recording with the 77th Army band, things seemed as normal as before. He began tearing down while the Army Band packed their gear up. Normally, Mr. Reynolds would be tearing things down alone without any help; however, on this occasion, members of the 77th Army band lingered behind to take care of their things – which happened to be perfect timing. Mr. Reynolds, although highly experienced and trained in his craft, accidentally missed a crucial step in his tear-down process, which resulted in the 1,000 pound band shell toppling onto him. He was pinned onto the ground, but luckily had the members of the 77th Army band nearby to come and rescue him from the situation.

Thank You To The Soldiers

Fort Sill and the McMahon staff recognized those that helped Mr. Reynolds in a ceremony Thursday, January 13. They were not only given a token of appreciation, but a personal thank you from the McMahon staff for leading by example in a time of need. As Corporal Nicole Mouzon stated in our story, she and her peers were doing “what anyone would have done in that situation.” It still needs to be said, however, that their acts of kindness are still worth remembering. And remember we shall.
