2021 Cyril Homecoming Parade

2021 Homecoming Parade – The 65th Year of Tradition

On September 24, 2021, the townspeople of Cyril, Oklahoma were in 2 places that afternoon: either in or ready to watch the Homecoming Parade. Students on vehicles, bicycles or on floats all waited anxiously to show off their hard work to the community. As the parade coordinator, Jenny Barnes, explained, the parade is “special to us in Cyril,” specifically their floats. You’ll notice that almost all of the floats, Animated-movie or cartoon-themed, had moving parts adorned in hand-crafted flowers. All of which made in only a week by students, parents and staff.

When it comes to small towns, a lot of work is put into the little things. The Cyril, Oklahoma Homecoming parade had more than just the incredible floats – Cyril elementary students dressed up in their pirate-pride gear and saddled up either on their bicycles or along the top of the Cyril Fire Department’s Fire Engine. Older students decorated their family’s vehicles with their own signage to introduce who they were while they sat on top of the vehicles and handed out candy to the sideline supporters.

In the high school division, the winners were the Juniors that built the “Spongebob” float. The Spongebob float also won the “Best of Show” and “People’s Choice” category for the parade floats. And for all of their efforts, the class winners received money as well as a pizza party.
